There are two parts to the challenge this week. The ultimate goal of course will be to submit your self portrait. However, before you shoot it, I am challenging you to ask Mr. Google to search for self-portrait images for inspiration for creating interesting, clever, and unique self portraits. Don't let the word "self" put you off. And don't be deceived by the word portrait. I would steer you away from the "yearbook-style" portrait or the church directory look (posed head shot). I'm hoping your image will be a fun representation of you - telling your story. Consider props. A really creative self portrait includes aspect of YOU, things you like, and it could be humorous, poignant, or a facial expression. The location might also feel your story. In the end - choose the mood... stoic, proper, whimsical, or any of that - you are welcome to as well. I want to keep your options creative and open - so in your searches for self-portraits, I trust you will find unique ideas that will inspire you. I'm not asking for metaphorical self-portraits (images that exemplify who you are without showing YOU). Reflections in mirror/glass would be great if we can identify you still. Please avoid silhouettes/shadows where your features are not seen by the viewer. The portrait should identify you. That doesn't mean you have to sit and pose and look directly into the lens, but please be identifiable. This week we get to finally see what YOU look like. I love when a portrait will tie into your personality or passions. SAY CHEESE!
