This week our challenge is focused on the third type of symmetry - Radial Symmetry. Create an image that uses radial symmetry as the main compositional layout. Radial symmetry as a composition is not an image that has a radial symmetry element in it, but rather, the entire composition is the radial symmetry. Radial symmetry ‘radiates’ from a central location. It does not have to radiate out from the center of the frame, but if it does, it would be considered a formal type of radial symmetry. Radial symmetry is easy to find in nature. Flower petals radiate out from their circular centers. Certain succulents often radiate from a central point. Mother Nature has provided us with a wealth of inspiration that uses radial symmetry. Wheels radiate out from spokes. A shutter zoom or shutter rotate can also create radial symmetry.
